Music to Check Out During Quarantine

Remember back when I did weekly playlists? It’s been a while. Frankly, I stopped doing playlist posts because I felt that I had nothing to add to the conversation. My taste in music is pretty main stream, and I’m not the person to look to when trying to find new artists. Here’s my list of things to listen to anyways! Maybe you’ll find something new. Maybe you’ll rediscover something old. To each their own.

Wildflower – 5 Seconds of Summer

In Your Eyes – The Weeknd

Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia (album)

Adriana McCassim’s Quiet Sides (album)

I Love You’s – Hailee Steinfeld

Time – Childish Gambino

just a boy – Alaina Castillo

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s Fishing for Fishies (album)

Marina Concert, Midterms, and a Fall Playlist

If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw my post about going to the Marina concert last month in Atlanta. I hadn’t listened to Marina (then Marina and the Diamonds) since high school. When my friend offered me a concert ticket to one of her shows I jumped at the chance. We made flower crowns beforehand too, just for the sake of reliving our high school concert days (back when flower crowns were the it thing to wear to events).

Now, instead of galavanting to Atlanta on the weekends, I’m studying for midterms. I’ve already taken Contracts and Torts, but I still have Juris and Judgements and Introduction to Legal Research to go. Sorry if I’ve been a little MIA recently, but school comes first. And once I get done with all my midterms I’ll make a post about how it went, and maybe I’ll link some of my study sources.

And here’s the fun part: my fall semester playlist! You can listen to it on Spotify, but be warned that it contains a little bit of everything and is definitely all over the place.

Current favorite song is Roaring 20’s by Panic! at the Disco

Current favorite album is Lover by Taylor Swift

Current favorite artist is Lizzo

Playlists Based Off My Summer Reads

Sadly summer is drawing to a close. I’m packing up all my things and getting ready to move into a new house in Athens. I’m really excited about starting back to school again this August, but I’m even more excited to finally get to see all my friends again!

The only way I manage to make it through the three hour drive from Asheville to Athens is either listening to music or podcasts. Luckily I’ve made three in anticipation of next week’s travels, and they’re all based off books I read this summer.

To check out each playlist, click on the title of each book and you’ll be linked directly to my playlist on Spotify.

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed

The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling (check out my book review HERE)

The All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness

Here’s my running list of books read this summer:

Brisinger by Christopher Paolini

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? [Blade Runner] by Philip K. Dick

The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler

The Goldfinch by Donna Tart

The Great Passage by Shion Miura

The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner

My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs

The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling

1984 by George Orwell

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi

The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed

Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness

The Color Purple by Alice Walker

Currently reading The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness

For more updates on the books I read check out my Goodreads account right HERE. I don’t read as much during the school year, but I do leave ratings on all the books I read and if they’re really great (or really, really terrible) I leave a review.

What are your favorite songs of the summer? Have you read anything good?

A Playlist for the Week

A Playlist for the Week

I promise this isn’t all I listen to, even though it seems like it some weeks.

P.S. my friends are probably glad I’ve taken a Hamilton Hiatus (because I’ve had a serious voice-crush on Lin Manuel Miranda since his carpool karaoke sesh)

A Playlist for the Week

As some of my more recent followers know, the band my dad plays in performed this Saturday. They’re called The Procrastinators. My dad plays drums, and occasionally can keep the rhythm straight (haha kidding, he’s a great percussionist).

I love coming to their concerts and watching them play! This week’s playlist is inspired by Saturday’s set lists.

Twenty One Pilots Concert

Hello everyone! Me here. Just another weekly playlist that’s entirely not a playlist! Aren’t those the best? (don’t answer that…)

Anyways, let’s get right on down to business! Waaaaay back when, on August 6th, I saw Twenty One Pilots on their Emotional Roadshow tour. Social media, aka tumblr fangirls, claim the show to be “existential.” And while I do have a tumblr, I am not a fangirl. But I will say that they hit the nail on the head with this one. I’ve never been to a show where the singer crowd surfs in the equivalent of a human hamster ball, or one where the magic acts are commonplace.

These two could join the US Olympic gymnastics team given the amount of back flips I saw that Saturday night, not to mention the impressive flip off the piano. The physicality of the show is something I would’ve seen bands do in smaller venues. In the Infinity Arena in Duluth the impressive light displays and the audience of thousands the venue seems massive, but the touches of tumbling and aerobatics from Josh and Tyler the show became more personal.

Some of my favorite songs from the concert? None other than Migraine, Car Radio, Trees, The Judge, Heathens, Stressed Out, Hometown, and House of Gold.
