Instagram Accounts to Follow Right Now

I love checking up on my favorite bloggers Instagram stories while drinking coffee before classes each morning. Here are a few of my favorites:

Shutterbean

Tracy shares a little bit of everything on here. She updates her Insta stories more frequently than anyone else I follow and I seriously love getting to watch her interact with her son Cooper and her two cats! She’s also a great chef with a knack for making anyone smile.

The Handwriting Club

This is Tracy from Shutterbean’s Instagram account. Tracy is an artist and this is where she shares most of her artwork. I also am in love with watching her live videos of her handwriting. It’s so pretty!

Antigua Floral

If you’re looking for flowers you don’t have to go any further! Sara shares her daily floral creations on her Insta every day! She makes arrangements for weddings, bouquets, displays, and sometimes even food photo shoots. This is where I head on dreary winter mornings – the colors and sun make every day feel like spring!

Joy the Baker

Joy is full of joy! And lots and lots of cakes. And bagels. And bread. So much bread. It’s beautiful, really.

Heathrow on Greek Row

Heathrow lives in the UGA DG house on Milledge. One lucky Delta Gamma gets to raise a guide dog puppy when they live in the house their sophomore year, and this year it’s Becky who’s raising Heathrow!

What are your favorite Instagram accounts?

How to Amazon

What do we even call people who are as addicted to Amazon as the new age college student? Amazonians? Amazoniacs? Nerds?

amazon-logo_transparent

Regardless of name, they’re doing something right. They’re hunting for bargains – and finding them. If the internet were a family, Etsy would be the entrepreneur child, you know, the kid with the lemonade stand that makes $300 each summer. People love them, they’re cute and cuddly, but a little expensive sometimes. eBay is the crazy grandma who buys all the kiddos shiny Christmas presents and all the parents wine, but somehow can never afford a hotel room. But Amazon, he’s trusty. Reliable. He’s good old Uncle Blankenship with his magic bag of goodies. Sort of like Santa, but with shipping and handling.

As zany as the internet is, Amazon doesn’t have too many curiosities. You won’t be able to find the crazy things wackos on eBay sell. But you will find some charismatic (or maybe I should just go with…interesting?) oddities on the online retailer. Here are a few sure to win your heart:

Ariel Grumpy Cat Pullover

51mewqgexsl-_ac_sy200_ Under the sea, or just under the weather, this grumpy cat – Little Mermaid pullover is purrrr-fect for anyone looking to get a laugh out of the two big fads of 2015.

Buy it here.

Bee Movie Script Hoodie

51rvohfoyl-_ac_aa160_ Yes, you read that correctly. This hoodie has the entire script of The Bee Movie on it. My boyfriend didn’t believe me, but things like this do exist (and he’s so glad they do). Don’t remember this movie? It’s about a bee who sues the human race for eating honey. It’s…uh…different.

You can buy the sweatshirt here and check out the movie here.

Drunken Unicorn Wine Rack

41rpctbwdl-_ac_aa160_ Who doesn’t need a unicorn drinking a bottle of wine? It gets even better when you realize it’s a wine rack. Now we know the real reason Voldemort drinking unicorn blood led him to living a half-life, he was drunk!

Buy it here.

Narwhal Tusk (Teaching Replica Quality)

“Yes, hi, I’d like to buy a narwhal tusk?…Mhm?…Oh, only replicas. Darn.”

For sale, believe it or not, here.

Caffeinated Lip Balm

3163jm692hl-_ac_ul160_sr160160_ You know you have a problem when you order this in the package deal off Amazon…caffeinated chapstick, lotion, and soap.

Buy it here.

Grass Pen

Product Details Perks: allergy friendly, doesn’t need watering, will help you actually get stuff done

Cons: doesn’t do the blade-of-glass-whistle thingy

What are some of the wacky things you’ve found on Amazon? I’d love to hear!

What’s on My Radar

Hello again! What’s everyone up to this week? I’ve been slammed with tests, papers, and basically every college event known to man kind! The rest of humanity seems to be busy as a bee too. If you haven’t been keeping up with your tweets, FBs, or instas, I have ya covered, right here in this world wide web recap of everything I’ve found interesting from the past few days.

Ever wonder why basketball players slap hands after free throws? Well now you know.
Did anyone watch the award winning public service announcement going around with the teen boy, Zarriel Trotter, from Chicago speaking out about gun violence? He’s recently been shot and is in recovery.
The National Autistic Society recently launched a campaign called “Too Much Information” and with it released this powerful video.
An Instagram account that turns magazine covers and album covers into classical paintings?! Yes please!
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is being ILLUSTRATED! This is NOT a drill! The same artist that illustrated Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is back, and Buzzfeed’s sneak peak at the drawings seem magically surreal.

A Playlist for the Week

Did anyone else have that pop punk phase in junior high that they never truly left behind? Because every time I hear the beginning to I Writes Sins Not Tragedies or Welcome to the Black Parade my ears perk up faster than you can say Jack Barakat! And don’t even mention My Chemical Romance breaking up…that was just a dark, dark time for all of us.

So here’s my playlist for the week, based off all the songs (that I still love) from my “my parents thought I was a goth, but I really just liked black eyeliner” phase. And then two newer songs from All Time Low’s and Sleeping With Sirens’ new albums (that I bought immediately, because who doesn’t love reliving the glory days?)

A Playlist for the Week

My freshman year of college is almost over! Can you believe that?! It’s making me feel so very old. Many of my friends and sorority sisters are getting proposed to, and some of my older friends have even gotten married. I’m starting to feel like an adult…yikes!

So, in honor of my impending adulthood and my waning childhood, here’s a Disney playlist to get your week started on the right foot. You’re never too old (or too young) for some classic Disney songs!

10 Thoughts Every Gen Chem Student Has

Most of us General Chemistry students never know what’s going on in class, but the moment we do it’s like we’ve conquered the world. Here’s ten thoughts that go through every student’s mind as they navigate their way through their university’s introductory chemistry course:

1. When you take your first exam…

2. The teacher gives you a quiz and over half the class fails

3. You get the math right but the sig figs wrong

4. The chemistry joke was the highlight of the lecture

5. You answer a question correctly in class

Bop ‘Till You Drop -Study Time Remix

If I don’t have music for my day trip to the library, I might as well not go. I’m sure I can’t be the only one! We all have our own study habits and mine happen to revolve around my studying playlists.

tumblr_lqcyvcrqr11qdaed5

For Creating Playlists:

  • Soundcloud
  • Spotify
  • Pandora
  • Youtube

If you don’t like listening to music with words when you study:

  • nature sounds
  • classical
  • soundtracks (I’d suggest film scores by Hans Zimmer)
  • white noise apps like White Noise or White Noise Free

My favorite music channels for getting through rough spots:

  • 5SOS on Pandora (I’m addicted to boy bands, I know)
  • tune collective’s Best of 2015 Hip Hop playlist on soundcloud
  • The Weekend on Pandora
  • The Piano Guys

This gif totally sums up how I feel when I hear my favorite song from 1202904 years ago:

What’s on my Radar

I’m driving myself crazy taking on SIXTEEN hours of college courses this semester!!! But there are definitely things that make my days brighter and sometimes even (somewhat) stress-free!

1. Sarah Palin Endorsing Donald Trump

tina-fey-palin

You wouldn’t think he’d really need anyone endorsing him after his father gave him that small loan of a million dollars those many years ago, but it still happened. Why is this so exciting for me? Because it means more Tina Fey on SNL. Can I get a hallelujah?

2. Cartoon-izing My Friends

I’m not a great artist, but I love doing this! It shows me which traits really stick out the most about my besties, and it brightens their days so much when I give them their caricatures! Wanna grab a pen and start sketching? Just make a list of everything that first comes to mind about your friend, pull up a picture of them on Facebook or Instagram (unless you’re going to be around them for a while and can sketch them in person), and pull up a cartoon person off the internet for inspiration! I always have trouble with facial expressions, so I leave that for last and Google image search for a while until I can compile something that I think works.

Coach Cartoon
A girl from my PE class was really sweet to me this week, so I drew her in to my bullet journal

3. furrylittlepeach

45441949c38113f30bdf6e03d655d648

This is a phenomenal artist with an Instagram documenting her works in progress, life, and all her adventures! Not only am I in love with all her art (which you can buy on her etsy site) but I absolutely adore every single photo she posts! Can I have her life please?

4. Snoop Dogg Narrating

This is a blessing of a different kind. I found it while completely sleep deprived and actually cried, fell out of a chair, and rolled onto the floor while laughing. My favorite video is linked right here – it’s Snoop narrating otters being attacked by a crocodile. It doesn’t sound funny, but oh boy will it surprise you!

5. The Man in the High Castle

Okay, let me give you a bit of a heads up before ranting about the utter perfectionmv5bmjewntgxodcyov5bml5banbnxkftztgwmzi5oduynze-_v1_sx640_sy720_ of this show – it’s only on Amazon Prime and there’s only one season out. The Man in the High Castle is a television show based in 1960’s America. After the Nazi’s won World War II the United States was split into three sections: the Pacific Zone (controlled by the Japanese), the Neutral Zone (controlled by no one), and the Greater Reich (controlled by the Germans). A group of rebels are fighting the Nazis in order to win back their, and all the Allied powers, freedom. A group of films created by a man called the Man in the High Castle is the rebel group’s ticket to defeating the Nazi’s, and season one is all about the getting the films to the right person, which is a problem because Hitler is just as obsessed with them as the rebel forces. This show is binge worthy and absolutely made for history geeks like myself! I watched the entire season in two days and am still waiting on the edge of my seat for season two!
